Rocky Mountain College offers a distinct music program that combines an excellent liberal arts education with comprehensive musical training. At Rocky Mountain College, we strive to develop high-quality music educators and performers, while promoting a lifelong appreciation of music.
From our celebrated and festive "Lessons and Carols" Christmas concert to spirited concert and jazz band performances that often feature fine regional composers, students from across all fields of study are encouraged to immerse themselves in the diverse performance opportunities available at Rocky Mountain College. All students, regardless of their chosen major, are welcome to participate in ensembles and are able to study privately with distinguished musicians.
The members of our faculty are respected performers, educators, composers, and scholars who take a sincere interest in our students and are committed to providing not only an outstanding education, but positive, personal interaction. You may have the distinct opportunity to work with a Ph.D.-level private instructor or sit under a world-renowned guest lecturer, but at RMC the classrooms are only half of the fun. Committed to finding real-world opportunities for our musicians to perform to their potential, we will help you find a spot with the Billings Symphony Orchestra and Chorale, sing alongside international opera singers with the Rimrock Opera Company, or give you a chance to highlight your own unique ability at an RMC open-mic night. Whatever your passion and potential is, we want to help you live it.
You may choose to add a business component and an internship in a recording studio. You've got the talent and dreams, and we've got the faculty, experience, and opportunities. We know that music as a career is a tough world, and that's why we're committed to a liberal arts philosophy of developing the whole person, thereby making our graduates immediately competitive.
The music programs at RMC have something for everyone and we encourage you to contact us with any questions regarding our music program or how to become involved in our ensembles.
