Biography
I have been at RMC since 2002. I am interested in understanding how all sorts of organisms (trees, arthropods, fish, and birds) strategically interact with changing environments. My teaching labs for Ecology (Bio 415) focus on the effects of exotic tree species on riparian arthropod communities. I am specifically interested in using this course for the collection of a long-term data set to address how changes in the arthropod community influence decomposition rates and nutrient cycling in riparian ecosystems in the Yellowstone River system.
Courses Taught
Ecology
Biology II
Animal Behavior
Vertebrate Anatomy
Conservation Biology
What is your favorite class to teach and why?
Bio 415 draws together things the students have learned in a variety of other freshman, sophomore and junior courses. It gives students a chance to see how things connect.
What is on your iPod?
As long as I am in reach of an AM station with some classic country music, I don't need an iPod.
What are you currently reading?
I am working my way through Ivan Doig's books about Montana.
