Biography
James I. McDowell, aka, "Doc McDowell," has been a professor at Rocky Mountain College for almost 50 years, teaching microeconomics, international trade, and money and banking. You're likely to find he'll be as interested in twin colts born on his 76-acre property near Silesia as he is to discuss NAFTA. His special and personal interests include ranch economics, hunting and fishing, horses, reading, and listening to his collection of George Norby early morning radio shows.

What advice do you have for prospective students?
Read the book, ask questions, don't miss class, and work hard.
What is your favorite class to teach and why?
Principles of Microeconomics because that is where I get to meet the new-to-me students.
What is on your IPod?
Nothing is on an IPod, I don't have a cell phone, and we don't have TV.
What are you currently reading?
I read a lot. Currently I am reading about why 38% of college graduates can't do acceptable college work.
What is your favorite getaway location?
I have a favorite fishing creek just east of Red Lodge where the 6-inch by 10-inch stream is filled with the only good trout--little brookies.
What is your favorite thing about RMC?
My favorite two things about Rocky are visiting with graduates who return to campus and teaching without having to do research in the summer.
