Biography
A professor at Rocky since 1992, Marilyn has taught almost every class in the college equine program, but is currently enjoying being part time and teaching the equine judging classes and managing the equine internship program. She is also an accredited judge with AQHA, NRHA, NSBA, APHA, NRCHA, and an FEI-I rated reining judge. When not teaching she is often traveling to judge for these associations. She has traveled to 13 countries to judge and has judged such prestigious events as the AQHA World Show, AQHA Select World Show, AQHYA World Show, NRHA Futurity, All American Quarter Horse Congress, APHA World Show, the AQHA European Championship, the APHA European Championship and was recently the equipment judge for reining at the World Equestrian Games held in Lexington, Kentucky.
Marilyn represents Montana as a National Director for AQHA and has served 17 years on the youth activities committee. She just completed a 3-year term as chairperson for that committee. Recently she was elevated to Director at Large for the American Quarter Horse Association. Look for her early in the mornings at the barn, usually accompanied by a German shepherd. You might ask about her grandson too. She has lots of pictures to share.

What advice do you have for prospective students?
Take advantage of the all classes Rocky offers. This is the time in your life to learn about yourself and prepare yourself for the future. Enjoy it and embrace it openly.
What do you do outside of class?
I enjoy hiking with my dogs and morning yoga.
What is your favorite getaway location?
My getaway place is some judging spot, like Columbia, Israel or Australia. I love to travel.
What makes RMC stand out from other schools?
I think Rocky has a unique equine program that helps students find their own way in the equine world. They can become involved in a variety of equine opportunities that help them find their own personal place.
