Why Attend RMC for Your Aviation Education?

We have an excellent aviation program, built on a strong liberal arts foundation

  • A strong, well-rounded education will serve you well in any profession, including aviation

  • Rocky encourages a minor or double major--and you will finish in four years

  • Great opportunities for other activities—music, sports, theater, outdoor recreation, intercollegiate flight team

We know what we do, and we do it well—we educate Aviation Professionals

  • Rocky's strength is its size—aviation classes average 11 students—you are not just a number

  • Strong students are challenged, struggling students have access to lots of help

  • Strong foundation in the liberal arts gives well-rounded education in both aviation majors--as much as you will love your aviation professors, you will have close relationships with your professors from varied backgrounds across campus

  • Rocky has been named one of the "Top Ten Comprehensive Colleges in the West" eleven straight years by U.S. News and World Report

  • Strong aviation management major opens doors to many non-flying aviation jobs

Preparation for the Real World

  • Internships available with dozens of local aviation companies and nationals, such as Alaska Airlines, Southwest Airlines, SkyWest Airlines, Corporate Air, Edwards Jet Center, AOPA and local airports

  • Guaranteed interviews with airlines and an international freight company—you will get a job

  • New Piper Archer III aircraft and simulators with state-of-the-art glass cockpits provide the most advanced primary flight training available anywhere

  • Glass cockpit training available with same hardware and software used by the airlines to teach Flight Management Systems (FMS) and glass cockpit procedures found in Canadair Regional Jets (CRJ)

  • We are one of only seven 4-year colleges in the U.S. that offers certification as an Aircraft Dispatcher--very little extra work required for another job opportunity and "foot in the door" at airlines

  • Boeing 737 training software, as used by the airlines, utilized in dispatch and other classes

  • Montana has a mix of weather and terrain to prepare pilots for a great cross section of job opportunities

  • We encourage our students and recent graduates to pursue being flight instructors for us

  • Internship credit and pay are available for students who are flight instructors

  • Our recent graduates are in demand - they have become regional airline pilots, flight instructors, military pilots, cargo pilots, and obtained management jobs

Learning to fly is not an inexpensive investment

  • Rocky aviation students are from all walks of life - many are the first in their families to attend college - all are concerned about expenses, as are we

  • Previous flight training accepted for credit

  • Our FAA syllabi will reduce flight cost

  • Two simulators (including one with a glass cockpit) improve training and reduce costs

  • A collegiate aviation program is a less expensive path—it combines the needed bachelor's degree with opportunities for scholarships, grants, loans and employment to reduce costs

  • We offer numerous scholarships just for aviation students

Flight training is personal and professional

  • Outstanding training aircraft solely owned and maintained by the college

  • All aircraft have Garmin GNS 430 Global Positioning Systems—plus glass cockpits in aircraft and sims

  • Beechcraft Bonanza gives high performance rating for commercial candidates

  • Flight instructors form strong relationships with students and offer personalized attention
