Gazette news services The Billings Gazette | Posted: Sunday, August 29, 2010 12:05 amBUTTE — Rocky Mountain College swept both Dickinson State and Minot State Saturday at the Montana Tech volleyball tourney here to improve to 8-0 on the year.
The Battlin’ Bears were missing junior middle blocker Jillian Stanek and junior outside hitter Sara Brunner. RMC coach Laurie Kelly said Stanek missed the match to attend a wedding and Brunner injured her ankle Friday.
“We had two starters who didn’t play. The rest of the team stepped up and had great matches,” Kelly said. “Those were two pretty big starters for us and we asked the rest of the team to step up and the bench came in and we got a lot of contributions from the whole team.”
The Bears’ next action will be at the California Concordia Tournament in Irving, Calif., Sept. 3-4. They will play Westmont (Calif.), Biola (Calif.), Concordia (Calif.). and Fresno Pacific (Calif.).
