Rocky Mountain College invites applications for a non-tenure track position in the environmental science program with a preferred starting date of January 2014. The position may become tenure eligible beginning in the 2014-2015 academic year. Applicants must be prepared to teach a variety of botany and plant-ecology related courses that focus on the central Montana region of Yellowstone River watershed. Core course offerings include botany, field-based plant taxonomy, wetlands ecology, introduction to environmental science, and range ecology. Additional courses could include landscape ecology, aquatic ecology, and introduction to geographic information science (GIS). The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop new courses within the applicant’s area of expertise. Plant specimen collection and preparation for the Rocky Mountain College herbarium is a part of the current position.
Applicants should have a strong desire to develop undergraduate research in the environmental sciences. A Ph.D. in botany, plant ecology, forestry, or an environmental science-related discipline is preferred. Prior teaching experience is also preferred.
