Position Description

Rocky Mountain College seeks a ¾ time Instructor of Education. The position requires a focus on teaching reading at the elementary level; emergent literacy; testing and assessment at the federal, state, and local events; technology as it applies to classroom instruction; and reading assessment. A reading clinic, required of all RMC reading minor students, is included as part of the prospective candidate’s assigned duties: the clinic instructor will create a clinical setting whereby RMC’s pre-service teachers work with local students one-on-one. Other courses the candidate may be responsible for include teaching reading and language arts in the elementary school, teaching reading and writing in the content areas, testing and assessment, educational technology, and/or diagnostic assessment of reading.

Qualifications

The prospective candidate must be qualified in the area of K-12 reading and knowledgeable and experienced in all aspects of reading instruction. A master’s degree in reading literacy and instruction is required; a doctorate in reading literacy and instruction is preferred.
