Hailey CopingaRocky signs Skyview’s Copinga to volleyball letter of intent

BILLINGS– November 11, 2014 – Rocky Mountain College head volleyball coach Laurie Kelly is proud to announce that Hailey Copinga, a 5-foot-9 middle from Billings Skyview High School, has signed an NAIA National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for the Battlin’ Bears beginning next fall.

The left-handed Copinga is one of Montana’s few three-sport athletes who will letter in volleyball, basketball, and track and field each of her four years of high school.

Copinga is a First-Team All-Conference player, who helped guide the Skyview Falcons to a runner-up finish at last season’s Class AA State Volleyball Tournament. She currently leads the Eastern AA Conference and all of Class AA in blocks per set and has been among the top ten in blocking during her four years. Led by Copinga, Skyview will be playing in this week’s (Nov. 13-15) State Tournament on the Montana State University campus in Bozeman.

“Hailey is a decorated high school athlete and one of the most talented all-around athletes I have seen,” said eighth-year Rocky coach Laurie Kelly. “We are so excited to add her to our roster and watch her game evolve. Her athleticism is simply amazing to watch. She is a disciplined student/athlete and a great fit for our program.”

Copinga’s high school coach, Vicki Carle, agrees with Kelly regarding her potential as a college volleyball player.

“Hailey is a hard worker and she is never satisfied with where she is at,” Carle said. “She always wants to be better. She excels in everything she tries and gives 110% all of the time.”

“She is very coachable and a natural leader,” Carle added.

Hailey is the daughter of Jeff and Kim Copinga of Billings.
