Employee Board opens communication, festivities among RMC faculty and staff
BILLINGS, August 7, 2014 – Internal communication has increased at Rocky Mountain College thanks to the RMC Employee Board. The board formed when President Bob Wilmouth gathered a working group in February 2014 to open a new channel for internal communication on campus.
The Employee Board includes faculty and staff in its mission to “encourage and facilitate a professional environment at RMC that generates respect, trust, recognition, effective communication, support, and fun.” Board objectives include building communication and collaboration across campus, providing meaningful recognition for employees, and creating structure to invest in training and professional development.
At summer meetings, RMC executive leadership has presented useful updates to the Employee Board. Vice presidents have explained campus initiatives in deferred maintenance, campus safety, and preparation of the College’s annual budget.
Social events that share information are an action priority of the Employee Board. A spring fling barbecue in May recognized employee’s years of service, and a June ice cream social brought faculty and staff from across campus together to enjoy hot fudge sundaes
Friday, August 8, at 2:00 p.m., a salsa competition on Prescott Green will share employees’ piquant homemade recipes after staff has prepared for Saturday’s orientation of student-athletes.
The RMC Employee Board is also sponsoring an August “signature event for orientation,” said Employee Board member Cara Lohrenz. RMC faculty, staff, students, and their families are invited to visit ZooMontana Friday, August 22 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., for a Mexican-themed buffet and live music by the Miller Sisters of Victor, Idaho; admission is free. Faculty, staff, and students should RSVP by August 15 to Cara Lohrenz at email@example.com or 406.657.1093. RMC employees who may have missed some recent College events are especially invited.
The Employee Board seeks more faculty and staff to assist increasing communication on the RMC campus. For more information, contact Employee Board coordinator Jill Hirschi.
