Ashlynn Reynolds-Dyk

Biography

After graduating from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, with a PhD in Technical Communication and Rhetoric, Dr. Dyk joined the English faculty at RMC. She studies the multimodal nature of rhetoric with special interest in media, health, and disability. Prior to her PhD, she graduated with a Master of Arts in Communication Studies from The University of Montana in Missoula, MT.

Dr. Dyk is faculty advisor for the school newspaper, The Summit. She also co-hosts, with her Media and Digital Literacy students, a Media Literacy Week in coordination with the National Association of Media Literacy and serves the school on various committees. Dr. Dyk has received various active and engaged learning grants for service learning projects which tend to be a central component to learning in her classroom. She also piloted and hosted open houses for the school’s Technology Enhanced Active Learning classroom.

Some of Dr. Dyk’s academic scholarship has been presented at various conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals including Present Tense, Technical Communication Quarterly, the Journal of Usability Studies, and the Journal of Family Communication. Since 2017, she has been a regular contributor to Simply Local Magazine-Billings. Dr. Dyk was named awarded the Grizzly of the Decade by The University of Montana in 2020 and The Billings Gazette named her one of their 40 Under for Business and Community Leaders in 2021.
