Dr. Erin Reser received her bachelor's of art (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Colorado State University in 1996 and earned a master's in 1998. In 2003, Professor Reser received a doctorate from the University of Utah. Prior to coming to Rocky Mountain College in 2007, Professor Reser taught for four years at Simpson College. 

Dr. Reser has taught in the field of communication studies for 15 years, and her courses have covered a wide array of topics. She has been published in Journal of Popular Communication and has also authored several book reviews. Professor Reser is a member of the National Communication Association, the Western States Communication Association, and the Organization for Research on Women and Communication. Her research focus on the rhetorical construction of national identity.
