Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy / Administrative Supervisor

Position Description

Rocky Mountain College (RMC), Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Program invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, clinical/administrative track faculty position (non-tenure eligible) to begin January 2nd, 2023.


This position will serve as both a faculty member and the administrative supervisor for the RMC OTD Program.

The faculty member is responsible for teaching graduate-level courses, advising and mentoring students for research and doctoral experience; facilitating experiential/community-based components of the OTD curriculum; participating in program and institutional committees and other service activities that support the mission of the college. Faculty members are encouraged to engage in clinical practice, if applicable, and must develop an agenda relative to research and/or scholarly activity.

The faculty member will teach 40% of the time and serve as administrative supervisor 40% of the time. Twenty percent of work time will be dedicated to scholarship and service. The distribution of work responsibilities is negotiable upon hire.

The faculty member will supervise the administrative support team to include: Two graduate assistants and one Masters-level student, who assists with budgetary and clinical rotation management.

Skills / Requirements

  • All full-time faculty teaching in the program must hold a doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body. The doctoral degree is not limited to a doctorate in occupational therapy,  Possess documented expertise in the content area he or she teaches
  • Licensed/eligible for Montana OT licensure, if an occupational therapist
  • Knowledge/experience in OT education, scholarship, and research, strongly desired - Ongoing clinical experience is preferred
  • Develop collaborative relationships with undergraduate programs and community-based stakeholders
  • Previous experience as a full-time faculty with teaching responsibilities at the postbaccalaureate level is desired
  • Develop systems to manage the program budget, accreditation requirements, management of supplies, equipment, assessments and curriculum development and enhancement
  • Coordinate projects, attend meetings, take minutes, and prepare reports for the department
  • Manage the administrative team (3 students) to ensure the program functions in an effective manner
  • Ensure the program adheres to college/program policies and accreditation standards (NWCCU and ACOTE)
  • Assist in planning and coordinating events, including visit days, workshops, seminars, graduation events, and others as necessary for the department
  • Maintain electronic files for students, faculty, and alumni, as well as databases for guest lecturers, lab assistants, and adjunct insfructors
  • Assist program director and faculty in completion of accreditation and technical documents
  • Maintains departmental budget and purchases office supplies and equipment as requested - Reconcile program credit card (monthly)
  • Ensure guest speakers, expenses/bills, accreditation fees, etc. are paid and reconciled with the program budget
  • Collaborate with RMC staff, faculty and departments, as needed, to support both the program and the college - Manage departmental grant funding (budgets and reports) - Other duties as assigned
