Assistant Strength Coach

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in the design and implementation of the strength and conditioning program with the Director of Strength and Conditioning. Teaches safe and effective lifting techniques, speed development, agility and conditioning exercise for the enhancement of athletic ability and prevention of injury. Supports and effectively communicates the strength and conditioning department’s philosophy and vision to the student-athlete and sport coaching staffs. Assists in maintaining the strength and conditioning equipment and facility.

Opportunity to take over strength and conditioning for certain teams.

Full time stipend position with possibility of acquiring another source of income.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

Acknowledgment of the importance of nutrition in the development of the student-athlete and takes an active role to accomplish this.

Ability to teach and design training programs that incorporate Olympic lifts.

Thorough knowledge of and commitment to compliance with NAIA rules and regulations.

Proven ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches and sports medicine staff.

Demonstrates strong organizational skills and effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Experience in motivating student-athletes to achieve maximum levels of performance.

Certification as a strength and conditioning coach (CSCS or NSCA) or must be able to obtain within one year of hire. Purchasing of certification will be covered by the Strength and Conditioning Department.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience or a desire to work with weight room technology including programming software, bar velocity monitoring systems and GPS athlete tracking systems.

Experience in a strength & conditioning program (High School or College).

Experience with or the knowledge of the organization and administration of off-season intra-team competitions.

Experience with or knowledge of any of the following nutritional areas: Campus Dining, Fueling Station Operation, Post-Game Meals and Post-Practice Meals and Caterings.

Experience with learning and administering different systems and approaches to the training athletes and the daily operations of a strength and conditioning program.
