Rocky’s Clancy and Thompsett claim Frontier golf titles

BILLINGS, Mont. – April 29, 2015 – Rocky Mountain College’s Kyla Clancy and Daniel Thompsett took home the individual titles at the women’s and men’s Frontier Conference golf championships held at Ahwatukee Country Club in Phoenix, Ariz., April 28 and 29.

Clancy, a junior from Park City, Mont., who prepped at Billings Central Catholic High School, shot a three-day total of 230 (76, 77, 77), bettering Lewis-Clark State’s Karina Davila by two strokes. Clancy’s effort help lead the Battlin’ Bears to a third place finish behind first place Lewis-Clark State and Carroll College (third). 

Rocky’s other competitors and finishes were: McKenzie Webinger, Laurel (84, 82, 80 – 246, 5th); Chere Anderson, Billings (91, 83, 96 – 270, 21st); McKenna Levesque, Malta (101, 91, 92 – 284 – 22nd) and Makenzie Wasson, Harlowton (96, 99, 100 – 295, 24th).

Thompsett is a senior from Aboyne Scotland. He shot a 216 (72, 70, 74), which gave him a two-stroke win over Lewis-Clark State’s Cole Lorenzo. Thomsett’s performance also helped the Battlin’ Bears two a third-place finish, behind L-C State (1st) and Westminster (2nd). 

Other Rocky men’s competitors and their finishes were: Jordy Donoven, Kremlin, Mont., (71, 74, 80 – 225, 7th); Cooper Simpson, Spirit Lake, Idaho, (80, 76, 75 – 231, T9th); Taylor Noble, Columbus (75, 85, 78 – 238, T16th) and Hunter Anderson, Billings (84, 84, 82 – 250, T25).
