Rocky golf inks two high school standouts

Colton Murphy

BILLINGS, Mont. – April 8, 2015 – Rocky Mountain College head men’s and women’s golf coach Aaron Pohle has announced the signing of two high school standouts to NAIA letters of intent.

Colton Murphy of Mandan, N.D., where he will graduate from Mandan High School, will golf for the men’s team. Abi Venzor from Three Forks (Mont.) High School will join the women’s team this fall.

Murphy qualified for the last three North Dakota state golf tournaments as well as being named his team’s most valuable golfer each of those years. He finished fifth at this year’s Class A state golf tournament and earned All-Conference and All-State honors.

Venzor will follow four former Three Forks athletes who excelled on the links while attending Rocky in Carlie Breen, Allie and Katy Sauvageau and Jared Strickland. Venzor helped lead the Wolves to a third place finish in last year’s state tournament. Her 10th place finish in that meet earned Venzor All-State honors, as did her 13th place finish in 2013.
