Rocky’s men edge Southern Oregon, remain unbeaten

BILLINGS– September 13, 2015 – The Rocky Mountain College men’s soccer team held on, downing the visiting Southern Oregon University Raiders 3-2 Sunday at Wendy’s Field in Billings.

The Battlin’ Bears struck first on a Colin Gregory goal – assisted by Donovan Luce – at the 26-minute mark (26:19).

Southern tied the match when Kirk Bassett scored off of James Ramos’ assist at the 27th minute (27:42).

Jack Clancy’s penalty kick put the Battlin’ Bears back on top at the 31st minute.

At the 49th minute Rocky extended their lead to 3-1 when Steven Forbes scored off an assist by Matthew Thomas.

The Raiders cut into Rocky’s lead at the 63rd minute when Deigo Buenrostro scored an unassisted goal.

Southern Oregon dropped to 0-2 in the Cascade and are 5-2 overall. Meanwhile, the Battlin’ Bears are 2-0 in league play and remain undefeated at 6-0.

Cole Catlin, Rocky’s goalkeeper recorded three saves. The Battlin’ Bears finished with 15 shots compared to six for the Raiders.
