Rocky women’s basketball inks two Montana standouts

BILLINGS, Mont. – April 27, 2015 – Rocky Mountain College women’s head basketball coach Wes Keller has announced the signing of two Montana high school standouts to NAIA letters of intent.

Kourtney Simonson is a 5-foot-9 forward, who helped lead Saco-Whitewater-Hinsdale (Mont.) to this year’s Class C State Basketball Championship. She averaged 10 points, six rebounds, two steals and two and a half assists per game.

On the basketball court, Simonson earned All-State her junior and seniors seasons, and was named All-Conference the past three seasons. She was also a four-time Academic All-State performer.

Simonson also competes in track and field, where she earned Academic All-State and All-Conference honors three times.

Katelyn Neibauer (5’8, guard) joins the Battlin’ Bears after a stellar athletic career at Chinook (Mont.) High School. She averaged 16 points a game this season and became the Sugarbeeters’ all-time leading scorer for both a single season and game.

This post-season, Neibauer was named to the Class C All-State team for the second-straight season. She also earned All-Conference honors the past three seasons.

Neibauer excelled on the volleyball court as well, earning All-Conference accolades the past two seasons.

“Both Kourtney and Katelyn are nice additions to the Battlin’ Bears’ program,” Keller said. “We like their upsides and competitive spirit.”

Keller looks to sign several more student-athletes this spring.
