Stillwater Society Exhibit on display at Ryniker-Morrison Gallery February 18 – March 11
BILLINGS, January 28, 2016 – Rocky Mountain College’s Ryniker-Morrison Gallery will host the Stillwater Society exhibit in Tech Hall on the RMC campus from February 18 through March 11, 2016. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
The Stillwater Society was formed in 1985. It consists of a small group of 17 members who meet once a month to paint during the daylight hours and to critique their work or previous works at the end of the day.
According to the Stillwater Society, “The lifelong development of an artist's style and personal statement through an art form is a solitary journey. Yet there are instances where an artist is compelled to seek the opinion of other competent peers. Statements made in direct response to composition, design, hue or form by an educated audience of peers can encourage the artist to explore the are work further or assure the artist that the piece is complete.”
“We are proud of our group: no dues, no president and no calling committee. We respect our individual styles, and our mediums are varied - from oil, watercolor, printmaking or kites. The essence of critique is essential to the group - continued exploration and an appreciation for advancing our knowledge of individual art forms.”
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The gallery is closed on weekends and school holidays. For more information, contact Sally McIntosh at email@example.com.
