InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IV)
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Rocky Mountain College is a group of students encouraging each other in their Christian faith, asking important questions, and having a great time serving the campus and community. Our IV chapter is part of the national Intervarsity organization.
What is the national InterVarsity organization all about?
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is an evangelical campus mission serving more than 35,000 students and faculty on more than 560 college and university campuses nationwide. Incorporated in 1941, InterVarsity has a rich tradition of campus witness, thoughtful discipleship, and a concern for world missions.

What is the overall purpose of InterVarsity?
In response to God's love, grace and truth, the purpose of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is to establish and advance at colleges and universities witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture and God's purposes in the world.
What does IV do every week here at RMC?
We meet every Monday evening from 7:30 to 8:30 PM in the chapel in the Student Union building. We typically have a few songs, a guest speaker, maybe a game and some snacks. We typically have a theme we talk about for a semester. It is a fun and relaxing time to connect with other students and be encouraged in your faith.
We also have a men's Bible study and a women's Bible study in the dorms every week. Students choose what to study-with a goal of learning more about God and the Bible and how to apply that to real life.
There also is a Prayer Team that meets regularly to pray about individual concerns and for the campus in general.

What about retreats?
There are four retreats each year. The In-Step retreat is at a beautiful mountain camp near Bozeman over a weekend in early fall. Students from all the IV chapters in Montana (five total colleges and universities) are there. It's a great way to start the school year, and really get to know other students.
There is also a Fall Faith retreat in October, a Spring Faith retreat in Butte in March, and a student leadership retreat in Bozeman in April.

What else does IV do during the school year?
Whatever students are interested in. To promote friendships and service, we have a few social events at the Faculty Representative's house, including a pumpkin carving party, year-end dessert party, and the world famous White Elephant Gift Exchange Christmas Party and Dinner just before finals week in December. This is one of the biggest events of the year.
We also raise money to support a child who is a student at a school for AIDS orphans in Kenya. One of the staff members of the school, called Christ's Gift Academy, is a graduate of Rocky and was very involved in IV.
We get together for movie nights, ultimate Frisbee, ski trips, and shared events with the IV chapter at Montana State University-Billings. We also do service projects around campus and in the community such as working at the Montana Rescue Mission.

Who makes up the leadership team for IV at RMC?
IV is a student-led organization approved in the college catalog. Typically about five students are in charge of scheduling, activities, and the overall organization. Dan Hargrove is a member of Rocky's faculty in the aviation program, and is the Faculty Representative for IV. He and his wife are also volunteer staff members approved by the IV national organization.
Do IV students go to local churches?
Yes. They attend quite a few different churches, and get involved at various levels. Connecting with other students at IV is a great way to learn about churches in the area, and a great way to get a ride.

Who should come to IV at RMC?
Everyone! College is an important time to examine your faith, and grow in your relationship with God. The students in IV want everyone to feel welcome, and meet each other where they are in their faith. We are serious about learning more about God and the Bible, and understanding what it is to really know Jesus Christ. We are also serious about relationships, accountability, serving and fun.
What if I have more questions?
Call Dan Hargrove, the IV Faculty Rep. He's a professor in the aviation program. His number is 406.657.1060. He can put you in touch with the student leaders as well.
