About the Library

About the Library

The library is located in the DeRosier Educational Resource Center and is named for Professor Paul M. Adams, a stalwart supporter of the College. The current library building opened in 1999 and is free for use by the public, as well as the students and faculty of Rocky Mountain College. Inside, the library offers a catalog that is shared with nine other academic libraries throughout the state, offering one of the largest resources in the area.

Mission Statement

Mission Statement The mission of the Paul M. Adams Library is to serve the students, faculty, and staff of Rocky Mountain College by providing resources that support the College's curriculum and meet general information needs of the College community. Furthermore, the library strives to develop critical thinkers and information-literate students and to serve as a primary campus space for students to gather, study, and learn in a compelling and comfortable environment.

Library resources are available for use by the RMC community and the Billings-area community. Resources from other libraries are available through interlibrary loan. Average turn around time is one week and loan periods and fees are governed by the lending library. Interlibrary loan is limited to the RMC community. Forms are available at the circulation desk or download the electronic form. Interlibrary loans that are not picked up will be returned to the lending library. Any overdue fees will be charged to the patron.

Electronic resources are governed by RMC's acceptable use of computer information systems policy. Student assignments are a top priority for computer usage.

Copyright Restrictions

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other
reproductions of copyright material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
